Ship’s Officer Class VIII

About the exam

With us, you can sit the Ship’s Officer Class VIII (FB VIII) exam.

You can book an exam slot on weekdays, during daytime hours, in the periods 15 August – 18 December and 10 January – 15 June. The exam takes about two hours.

Contact Maria Hamberg to book an exam time. Once your date is booked, you’ll receive an information email explaining how to register in our digital system. As part of this, the following documents must also be uploaded to our digital system before the exam day:

• Receipt for the paid exam fee
• SRC/VHF certificate (no more than five years old)
• Proof of sea service (no more than five years old)
• Radar
• Fire fighting

Candidates who don’t meet the requirements will not be allowed to sit the exam, and the slot will then be cancelled.

The exam fee is SEK 1,500 including VAT.

If you’re taking the course privately, payment must be made in good time before the exam to bank giro account 458 93 58-3. Please use code 840100 as the reference.

The exam is held at Campus Lindholmen, Saga building, floor 3. It’s easy to reach by public transport.

• Plotter
• Pair of compasses
• Practice chart no. 93

Locations

If you’re unable to come to Chalmers campus in Gothenburg, you can sit the exam with one of our exam coordinators located in various cities across Sweden.
