Oil and Chemical Cargo Handling for Ship’s Officers and Marine Engineers, Refresher
Update your knowledge and extend your special certification for tankers, oil and chemical cargo handling, in accordance with STCW.
About the course
Over the course’s two days for marine engineers and three days for ship’s officers, you’ll take part in lectures at Campus Lindholmen. The course is run in accordance with the Swedish Transport Agency’s regulations and, provided the other requirements are met, extends your special certification for oil and/or chemical cargo handling on tankers.

Certification
Once you’ve passed the course, this is registered with the Swedish Transport Agency and the result appears in the seafarers’ register. You apply for the corresponding certification yourself from the Swedish Transport Agency, which charges a fee for this.

SEK 11,500 excluding VAT for marine engineers, 2 days
SEK 15,300 excluding VAT for ship’s officers, 3 days
Course literature, as well as lunch and coffee on-site, are included in the course fee.

Course material
You’ll receive the course material at the start of the course. If you’d like to work through it in the evenings, bring a computer.
Cancellation
Cancellation is free of charge up to four weeks before the course starts. If you cancel later than that, the following charges apply to the party that made the booking:
- 0–2 weeks before the course starts: 100% of the course fee
- 2–4 weeks before the course starts: 50% of the course fee
Cancellations must be made in writing to sjofart@chalmers.se. We accept a colleague as a substitute for the original participant. Accommodation is cancelled according to the hotel’s cancellation policy.
