When electronic charts replace paper charts, it places new and different demands on you as a navigator so that you can navigate the ship safely. When you have completed our course, you meet the IMO requirements for sailing on an ECDIS-certified vessel.

Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) replace the paper charts for most ships and become their primary navigation system. With STCW Manila, IMO has established the training requirements for bridge officers serving on ECDIS-equipped vessels, where the first training step is a generic ECDIS training according to IMO Model Course 1.27. Our generic ECDIS course is based on IMO Model Course 1.27 (40 hours) and is approved by the Swedish Transport Agency.

In the course, you can start with preparatory home studies and exercises for two days. After that, there will be teacher-led lessons and simulator exercises for three days. You will have to do a theoretical test and a practical run-up in a simulator.

All teaching is in Swedish but can be given in English if needed. The course literature is in English.
